Should I pick JumpCloud or Rippling?
Pick JumpCloud if you want a directory, single sign-on and device management without changing your HR system, with device management from $9 per user per month. Pick Rippling if you want IT on the same employee record as HR and payroll, from $8 per employee per month plus a base fee, and you are ready to run Rippling as your HR system.
Caspian publishes this page and sells an IT automation platform that overlaps with both. Where we give an opinion, we say so.
Which fits a 150-person Mac company, JumpCloud or Rippling?
It depends on your HR system more than on Macs. Both JumpCloud and Rippling manage Macs; G2 reviewers rate JumpCloud's Mac side as thinner than its Windows side. A 150-person Mac company that keeps its HRIS usually shortlists JumpCloud plus a Mac MDM such as Jamf, Iru or Mosyle, or a tool that works next to one.
When to pick JumpCloud
JumpCloud fits a company that wants one directory across Windows, macOS and Linux and keeps its own HR system. G2 reviewers rate the Windows side above the Mac side, and several features sit only in the top package (Siit summary of G2 reviews).
When to pick Rippling
Rippling fits a company that wants hiring, payroll, devices and apps driven from one employee record. TrustRadius reviewers note that several modules add up, and the value is highest when HR also runs on Rippling (TrustRadius).
Our view: the deciding question is your HR system. If it stays, JumpCloud is the simpler fit. If you would move HR anyway, Rippling joins the two.
What does Caspian do differently from JumpCloud and Rippling?
Caspian keeps your identity provider and your HR system and charges €10 per active user per month for laptops, apps and access, with all of that person's laptops included and no modules. Caspian is an IT automation platform for scale-ups, and you can start for free, self-serve. This section describes our own product.
- There is no directory swap and no HR suite to adopt.
- Reaches apps without SCIM through AI-generated browser scripts you can read and audit.
- You describe the job in chat, in Slack, Teams or Google Chat. There is no flow builder to maintain.
What does Caspian read, and with which rights?
Caspian reads metadata and settings, not content. It reads which apps exist, who has an account, which role that account has, and the state of each laptop. It does not read file contents, email bodies or chat messages. Connections are read-only by default; Caspian asks for write rights only for the steps you switch on, such as removing a leaver's account. Customer data is stored with AWS in the EU (Frankfurt). An external penetration test was carried out by Workstreet in August 2026, and ISO 27001 and SOC 2 are in progress.
