## TL;DR

- Most teams that search for a Jamf alternative want one of three things: a lower price on a small Apple fleet, one console for Mac and Windows, or onboarding and offboarding that reach past the device. Pick by which of the three you need.
- Cheapest list price for an Apple-only fleet: Mosyle, free up to 30 devices, then from $1 per device per month (reported list price, checked 4 November 2026). Free baseline: the MDM in Apple Business.
- One console for Mac and Windows: Microsoft Intune ($8 per user per month, Plan 1), Fleet ($7 per device per month, Premium) or JumpCloud ($9 per user per month, device management).
- Device plus apps, accounts and access in each SaaS app: Caspian, Primo or Rippling. Caspian, the IT automation platform for scale-ups, which we sell, costs €10 per active user per month with all their laptops included, 30 days free and no card.
- Keeping Jamf is a valid answer. Jamf for Mac is $12.50 per Mac per month with a 25-device minimum and bundles Jamf Pro, Connect and Protect ([Jamf pricing](https://www.jamf.com/pricing/), checked 4 November 2026). If the device side works, add what is missing instead: see [keep Jamf, fill the gaps](/resources/keep-jamf-fill-the-gaps).

Caspian publishes this article and sells a product in this space. We list where another tool fits. Prices and facts were checked on 4 November 2026.

## Jamf alternatives compared

Prices are list prices in each vendor's currency, per month, from the vendor's own pricing page unless marked. Per device and per user are different bases: one person with a Mac and an iPhone is one user and two devices.

## Which Jamf alternative should I pick?

Pick Mosyle if price decides on an Apple-only fleet (from $1 per device per month), Intune, Fleet or JumpCloud if you need Mac and Windows in one console, and Caspian, Primo or Rippling if accounts in SaaS apps are the real work. Many device tools take a lot of configuring for a team of one or two, so weigh how fast each one is to start next to the list price.

- **Keep Jamf** if you have a Mac admin who scripts, 25 or more Macs and compliance needs Jamf already meets. Add a tool for SaaS accounts and BYOD rather than migrate.
- **Pick Apple Business** if you have a handful of Macs bought through Apple or a reseller and need enrollment, settings and App Store apps only. It does not run scripts or patch third-party apps.
- **Pick Mosyle** if the fleet is all Apple and price decides. Check the 30-licence minimum on paid plans.
- **Pick Iru** if you want device management, EDR and compliance automation from one Apple-first vendor and accept a quote-only price.
- **Pick Addigy** if you are an MSP running many client fleets, or want live remote access to Macs.
- **Pick Fleet** if your team manages configuration as code and runs Linux next to Macs.
- **Pick Intune** if Windows is most of the fleet and you already pay for Microsoft 365 E3 or E5.
- **Pick JumpCloud** if you have no identity provider and want directory and devices on one bill.
- **Pick Rippling** if Rippling is already your HR and payroll system.
- **Pick Primo** if you want MDM, SaaS management, IT ticketing and device procurement from one vendor and you run Windows next to Macs.
- **Pick Caspian** if you are a Mac-first company on Google Workspace, Entra or Okta and the work after the device takes your week: creating accounts in each app, putting people in the right Slack channels and GitHub teams, and removing all of it when they leave. Caspian aims for Jamf's configurability with Iru's ease of use: it works next to your MDM as the chat layer over it, covers SaaS accounts and access inside apps, and sets device posture from day one (OS updates within 14 days by default). Sign-up is self-serve and free to start.

## When should you keep Jamf?

Keep Jamf for Mac ($12.50 per Mac per month, 25-device minimum, checked 4 November 2026) if you have a Mac admin who scripts, 25 or more Macs, and compliance work that relies on Jamf's Smart Groups, scripting and app catalogue. In that case add a tool for SaaS accounts and BYOD rather than migrate.

## When is Caspian not the right fit?

- Caspian is not an identity provider. Keep Google Workspace, Entra or Okta for sign-in.
- On personal laptops (BYOD), Caspian manages the work account only, not the whole device.
- Caspian's MDM covers enrolment, FileVault, firewall, OS updates and app installs. It has a shorter track record than Jamf's scripting, Smart Groups and app catalogue. If you rely on those, keep Jamf: Caspian reads Jamf, Iru and Intune and works next to them.
- Caspian is not an EDR and does not scan for vulnerabilities. Iru, Addigy's Security Suite and Jamf for Mac do.
- Caspian shows unused licences. It does not negotiate contracts or manage SaaS spend.

## Does an MDM remove a leaver's SaaS accounts?

No. Wiping a Mac does not close a Slack, GitHub or Notion account. NIST SP 800-53 control PS-4 asks an organization to "disable system access" within a set time after someone leaves ([NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5](https://csrc.nist.gov/pubs/sp/800/53/r5/upd1/final)). An MDM covers the laptop. The accounts need a second tool, or a list worked by hand.

## Methodology

- We read each vendor's pricing page on 4 November 2026. Where a vendor publishes no price, we say so and cite a third-party report, marked "reported".
- We did not test every tool hands-on. Platform coverage comes from vendor pages.
- Prices exclude VAT and change. Check the vendor page before you buy.
- We sell Caspian. We rank no tool overall; the "pick X if" list is our view of fit.

## What does Caspian read, and with which rights?

Caspian reads metadata and settings, not content. It reads which apps exist, who has an account, which role that account has, and the state of each laptop. It does not read file contents, email bodies or chat messages. Connections are read-only by default; Caspian asks for write rights only for the steps you switch on, such as removing a leaver's account. Customer data is stored with AWS in the EU (Frankfurt). An external penetration test was carried out by Workstreet in August 2026, and ISO 27001 and SOC 2 are in progress.
